Destination Overview

Jollybouy Island and Red Skin Island

Jollybouy Island and Red Skin Island, located in the Mahatma-Gandhi Marine National Park, are two of the most beautiful, environmentally protected destinations in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. These uninhabited islands have been praised for their untouched beauty and glass-clear water. They are a paradise for nature enthusiasts, snorkelers, and eco-tourists.

Jollybouy Island, with its coral gardens and crystal-clear lagunas, is known for its strict plastic-free policy that preserves its fragile marine ecosystem. Red Skin Island is its twin and shares many of the same features. It can be used as an alternative when Jollybouy Island is closed to allow for eco-rejuvenation. These islands are part the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park. This protected reserve is rich in biodiversity and offers visitors a glimpse into the unspoiled marine world of Andamans.

These islands offer a natural escape that is unspoiled and unpolluted. They are not inhabited permanently, nor do they have any commercial infrastructure or overnight stay restrictions.

Location:

The two islands are approximately 30 km south of Port Blair.

Jollybouy opens to tourists in November and May. Red Skin Island, however, is only accessible from June to October. This is a measure that rotates to protect marine life.
