Destination Overview

Govind Nagar Beach (Nemo Reef)

Govind Nagar Beach (Nemo Reef) tucked along the eastern shoreline of Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island), Govind Nagar Beach--affectionately called Beach Number 3--is a long, crescent-shaped stretch of powder-soft sand fringed by swaying palms and a calm, turquoise lagoon. Radhanagar Beach (Beach No. Govind Nagar is a blissfully relaxed beach. Govind Nagar's village is surrounded by a beach, making it easy to reach cafes, dive stores, and homestays.

Govind Nagar Beach on Havelock Island is special because it has shallow waters that are swimmable all year round, a fringe reef with parrotfish and clownfish, and a sunrise that colors the Andaman skies in vibrant sherbet shades every morning. The beach is not a colonial site, but it has cultural significance to the local Bengali or Karen communities. They fish in its calm waters and hold festivals on the sand.

The ruins of a World War II pier can be seen knee-deep within the gin-clear lagoon. This reminds visitors that these islands were once the scene of fierce battles fought between Allied forces and Japanese forces. The mood today is one of serenity, perfect for families, couples on their honeymoon, and digital travelers who want a quiet workspace with a view of the sea.
